ADHD & Learning Evaluations

The Value of a Comprehensive ADHD Evaluation

ADHD is a type of neurodiversity that develops early in childhood (before the age of 12) and can present as symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity. Sometimes this diagnosis is missed because a child is “well-behaved” or they’re smart. As these individuals get older, however, and they no longer have the external supports of school and parents, they often feel like they’re failing to live up to their potential. Which may be true because their brains do, indeed, work differently from “neurotypical” individuals.

What’s tricky about diagnosing ADHD is that a lot of different things can impact attention and activity levels - things like depression, anxiety, trauma, learning disorders, sleep, and even everyday stress. And more often than not, it’s not “just ADHD.” Researchers estimate that 60% - 100% of the time, there’s another diagnosis present.

This is why I provide comprehensive ADHD evaluations. I want to make sure we are getting the whole clinical picture and not missing anything. I want to provide my clients with an evaluation that is going to be thorough enough to receive the right treatment, medication, and accommodations (i.e., school, workplace, college, testing such as MCAT, LSAT) that they need to thrive. Because few things are as frustrating as being misdiagnosed or going through an entire testing process only to learn that “further testing is required” to qualify for particular services.

I provide ADHD assessments in Richmond, Virginia and virtually across all PSYPACT states. My turnaround time for a report is quick - usually 14 days after all testing is completed. I value transparency with pricing. The cost for an evaluation is a flat fee of $3000. This includes everything - the initial interview, testing, report, feedback, recommendations, and any consultations needed with your other providers. We’ll spend as much time as we need to answer your questions. You’ll be working with me the entire time from start to finish (no techs, assistants, or interns). I am out-of-network with insurance companies. You can learn more about how to seek reimbursement from your insurance company here.
